Avani Shah Biography

Avani Shah is graduate of 1998 batch in painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts, M S University of Baroda, Vadodara.
She is an accomplished painter who has worked with diverse range of mediums on varied surfaces. Her initiation to art started early in her academic life when she attended a workshop on paper pulp making under John Bobcock of USA.

It was also during her student days in 1995 that her work “Skyscape -1” was selected for the 104th All India Annual Art Exhibition at Jehangir Art Gallery. Her work has also been selected for show organized by AIFACS
and Gujarat Rajya Lalitkala Akademi. As an accomplished artist, she has displayed her work in solo shows and has
also participated in group shows at prestigious exhibitions.

Avani has recently been awarded with the second place at the G K Verma Awards, National Competition of Sculpture on August 2013 at Vadodara. Avani has created a unique identity for herself with her translation of expressions into physical creations. Light fascinates her as much as mysticism enchants her… defined by her narratives in media as diverse as paper pulp, canvas, mural, installations and photography
